To realize the career dreams of rural youth and fulfil their potential, RGNIYD RC Chandigarh has launched a Skill Development project for North East, Schedule Cast, Schedule Tribe.
RGNIYD RC has organized the “2nd Sports for Development and Peace Meet” for students, staff, and guests. Mr Stanzin Dawa, Regional Director, RGNIYD talking about the sports meet mentioned that 300 youth will be participating in the sports meet. One of the key connector for youth has been the field of sports. Apparently, sports shapes and maintains many social values that are held in high regard, such as hard work and fair play, self-discipline, sacrifice, and commitment to oneself and others. Research documents that sport participation can lead to greater health and well-being, as well as social, emotional, moral, physical, and psychological development. In short, sport has the potential to contribute to the positive development and stability of both individuals and society as a whole.
Students from Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and 8 states North-east region participated. Those participating in the sports meet are between the age groups of 14 and 35 years. Students took part in sports including Badminton, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Spoon and Balloon race, and Sack race. Winners were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. Santosh and Amrish were awarded Best Performers trophies in Sports.
